Dimiter Kirkovski

Position: Head of Department: IT Support, CPSBB
Mr. Kirkovski is a PhD student in Molecular Biology at the University of Plovdiv. He holds a Master's degree in Microbiological and Enzyme Productions, a Master's degree in Crop production and has a solid background in informatics and computing technologies. His interests in the field of bioinformatics are comparative genomic and transcriptomic analysis of extremophile species, which are also a part of his doctoral thesis. During his RESIST secondments, Mr. Kirkovski focused on studying the transcriptome of the resurrection plant Xerophyta schlectheri exposed to various levels of drought, as well as genomic assembly and annotation of the same species. The training he obtained as a part of the team at UCT significantly improved his experience in the field of bioinformatics and abiotic stress in plants.
