Dr. Alicja Wieteska Georgieva
Position: PhD, Agronomist, Department of Crop Quantitative Genetics, CPSBB
Dr. Alicja Wieteska Georgieva has a background in horticulture, mainly research on medical plant cultivation, and their biological activity and application. She obtained her doctoral degree at the West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin, Poland. Currently, she works as an agronomist at CPSBB, cultivating hundreds of tomato and pepper lines collected worldwide. The research is focused on plant responses to biotic and abiotic stress and the characterization of the nutritional value of the fruits using GWAS approaches. As part of the RESIST project Dr. Wieteska Georgieva was assigned to Bioatlantis where she will continue the previous work of Dr. Nikolay Anachkov on the evaluation of biostimulant products from seaweed to monitor the mitigation of oxidative stress during growth, and improvement of tuber development and yield in potato plants.
