Plamena Marinova
Position: Laboratory technician, Department Molecular Stress Physiology, CPSBB
Ms. Plamena Marinova works as a laboratory technician at CPSBB. She collaborates with Lyudmil Tonchev on his PhD research related to the functional analysis of Haberlea rhodopensis target genes related to desiccation tolerance and other abiotic stresses. She also contributes to the European project HealthyDiest4Africa. Plamena is at the last year of her Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology at Plovdiv University "Paisii Hilendarski". For her diploma thesis, she is doing research on Petunia sp. in vitro cultures, focusing on methods to reduce and eliminate phytoplasmic diseases. The methods used in her experimental work include heat stress and propagation by isolating apical meristems from affected plants. As part of the RESIST project, during her secondment at BioAtlantis she will participate in field experiments with potatoes, testing the potential of seaweed-based biostimulants to enhance yield and quality in both stressed and unstressed plants.
